Hunters notice tracks resembling those of a barefoot child in the mud of a remote logging road
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 1994
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: October
PROVINCE: New Brunswick
COUNTRY: Canada
OBSERVED: We found small set of footprints on dirt road that were childlike approx size five .No video footage or pictures were taken.
This happened in oct 1994 during the bow hunting season in NEW BRUNSWICK approximately 20 miles outside the city of Moncton off of the old Fredericton rd . Note: the fork stream road is the main road of the camp area that we were hunting. This area was a popular area during the riffle season with a lot of camps and logging roads that branch off. The particular logging road we were on was numbered 174.
We had been scouting the area for the last couple weeks for deer sign and found a good spot on this road .We had parked our vehicle approx 3/4 mile away from our ground blinds and were both walking to the area and casually scanning the ground for deer sign and noticed a set of footprints that seemed to belong to a child or small footed adult approx size 5 . We both stopped to look and wondered why a child would be walking in mud bare foot way out here or that maybe someone was in a vehicle and needed to get out for a nature call and didn’t want to dirty their new shoes .But the footprints seem to have gone clear across the road and not from the center of the road and we could not come up with a logical explanation to how these prints came to be .
We speculated a little more and jokingly one of us mentioned bigfoot and we proceeded to our blinds and never gave it all that much thought after that day as a matter of fact I completely forgot about this until recently as I had been doing a lot of reading about different reports on the BFRO and it came back to me like a boomerang.
ALSO NOTICED: Not that was talked about.
OTHER WITNESSES: There was me and a hunting companion.

Motorists Observe Creature Along Trans-Canada Highway
________________________________________
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2006
SEASON: Spring
MONTH: June
DATE: June 6
PROVINCE: New Brunswick
COUNTRY: Canada
NEAREST TOWN: Sackville
NEAREST ROAD: We were on New Brunswick #2
OBSERVED: My wife and I were driving from Moncton to Sackville on New Brunswick #2 in June 2006 in the afternoon and saw a figure walking across a clearing about a 100 yards away. It was all black, walked with long strides and arms out and we did not see any clothes such as a shirt or blue jeans. We could not see any facial features. It was about 4 to 5 PM. We tell our friends that since my wife and I seldom agree on anything, but do on this, it had to be Bigfoot.
ALSO NOTICED: No
OTHER WITNESSES: Just my wife and I
OTHER STORIES: When we returned home a friend of mine in the Optimist Club said he grew up in the area north of Fundy Bay and he was chased by a Bigfoot one time -in his youth.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: As per above about 4 to 5 PM.
It was a nice sunny day and we were looking southwest but the sun would have been high in the sky at that time.
ENVIRONMENT: The area alone the road was thickly wooded but with numerous open areas.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Todd Prescott:
I spoke with the witnesses separately on the phone at length on February 5th, 2008. The witnesses reside in Michigan on the Lower Peninsula. They were vacationing in the province of New Brunswick and had spent some time in an RV/trailer park close to Sackville. Between 4 & 5 pm, with clear skies above, they were heading north on Hwy #2 (also referred to as the Trans-Canada Highway at that point). They both spotted a large, bipedal creature walking across a clearing from the north to the south. The husband saw the creature for approximately five seconds. He was driving their vehicle, and consequently, wasn't able to discern many details about the creature, other than the following:
- creature moved in a casual manner (not fast, not slow),
- creature appeared between 6-7 feet in height, and
- creature was dark in color.
The passenger (the driver's wife) had a better opportunity to observe the creature for approximately ten seconds. Her observations are as follows:
- creature 'lumbered' along bipedally with an unusual, non-human gait (that is, its arms seemed proportionally longer than the typical arm/torso ratio as seen in humans and it appeared to take long strides),
- creature appeared at least 6-7 feet in height with a stocky/muscular build, and
- creature appeared to be covered in dark fur or hair.
Passenger is somewhat 'embarrassed' by the sighting. She has no doubt about what she saw, but is uncomfortable with the fact that she saw a creature resembling an upright ape traipsing across a field in New Brunswick.
Both witnesses felt that the path of the creature suggested that it was heading from one tract of forest to the next adjacent tract. It somewhat paralleled the couple as it traveled from the northeast to the southwest. No facial features were noted other than the passenger stating that "the face appeared all dark".
Adjacent to the aforementioned stretch of Hwy #2 is dense, mixed forest (primarily coniferous). Also, water sources are abundant in the immediate area (lakes, rivers and marshes).

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Todd Prescott:
Spoke with witness on February 24, 2009. Witness resides in Arizona. He was driving back from Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he and his wife had attended their daughter's wedding. They were heading west on Route 3 when the witness noticed a red or maroon vehicle pulled over on the side of the road up on the grass. Witness kept an eye on the vehicle, unsure of why it was pulled over, and seemingly abandoned. As he approached the vehicle, whilst maintaining the speed limit, he kept an eye on the vehicle. He looked back to the road in front of him, and surprisingly, saw an upright figure in the middle of the road up ahead of him. The road was a straight, flat stretch at that point, but witness was unsure of original distance from him to the creature when he first spotted it. As he approached the creature, it was moving from south to north from the middle of the road. Witness could not determine the gender of the creature, its height or weight. He did mention during our phone conversation that he felt it may have been a foot or two taller than a man. He commented that it seemed rather tall.
He felt that the creature was 'well-built' - not fat, but muscular and evenly proportioned for its height. The hair/fur appeared neat in appearance, but not thick or dense. Witness thought that he had noticed patches where the skin showed through (the skin appeared dark in color). The creature's head was facing down as it walked, and consequently, witness did not notice any facial features, and no neck was visible.
The muscles of the creature's thighs and legs were visible as it crossed over the road and proceeded to transverse the ditch. Witness was surprised that the creature's gait and movement did not change as it walked down into the ditch. Movement was natural - not forced or awkward.
Witness believes that the distance from the edge of the road to the tree line is approximately 30ft. He remembers the area as being a bit boggy/swampy and well-endowed with forest cover.
Witness' wife did not see the creature. She was told later about the incident.
During our phone conversation, the witness did not stray from the details of his submitted report. He thought for a moment during the sighting that perhaps someone was playing a joke on him. However, as he watched the creature, and witnessed the muscles expanding and contracting, as well as its unusual descent down into the ditch, it became apparent to him that it was a not a human, but rather a unique bipedal creature synonymous with other descriptions of bigfoot/sasquatch.

Extended daylight sighting from tower at Kelly's Bog in Kouchibouguac National Park
________________________________________
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 1997
SEASON: Summer
PROVINCE: New Brunswick
COUNTRY: Canada
LOCATION DETAILS: [See description of location in the body of the report]
NEAREST TOWN: Kouchibouguac Village
NEAREST ROAD: Within two kilometers of parking lot near lower campgrounds.
OBSERVED: Hello,
My name is Steve and I would like to share my sighting with the group. Before I go any further I would like to say that this is a fantastic web site and if I would have seen it in 1997 I would have posted then. Having looked through the site I noticed other sighting in the New Brunswick area one around the same time as mine.
Durung the summer of 1998 (July or August?) I set out on a solo vacation from the Ottawa area to travel the eastern provinces. I first visited a friend in Red Banks N.B where I left my car and trailer. The next day I got on my motorcycle and headed to Kouchibouguac Provincial park on the recomendation of my friend.
The next morning I got up early and decided I would like to take avantage of what trails the park had to offer. I picked the bog. This was the largest bog I had even seen. It is something like 1.5km wide by .75km [across]. You walk along a short trail through the forest and then wow!, you are presented with this incredible bog.
I climbed this small viewing tower located at the start of the Bog and took in the spectular view. I remember saying to myself "Lets see what animals I can spot" and then seeing something and saying to myself "theres one".
I pride myself in having exceptional vision and I focused as best I could on this animal. It was directly in front of me at an estimated distance of 500'. It was a greyish brown colour from head to toe. It was walking away from me.
I never once thought is was a Man as it's colouring was too close to its surroundings and too uniform. The only problem I had was that it was walking upright. I watched it until it was out of my sight desperit to get an identifaction.
Once I couldnt see it anymore I decended the tower and walked along the boardwalk through the bog in the same direction as the creature. At the end of the boardwalk I thought about going into the bog to look for it and fear of the unknown caused me to turn back.
Before leaving the bog I went back up the tower and it was exactly where I saw it the first time except this time it walked right across my field of vision from right to left. It was close enough that I could see light between its legs as it walked and noticed its lower leg and arms seemed longer than a humans.
It appeared to be picking things up as it walked. It didnt need to bend over or stop as it picked up some kind of plants. I watched it for about 20 minutes and it seemed to me like I was looking at a shadow. I felt like it knew that I didnt have either my binocculars or camera to get a closer look at it. It was just out of my visual reach to make a definite identification.
During my vacation I walked alot of trails and on two ocassions I walked off the trail into the bush. I noticed a light from deep into the bush as if there was an opening and sure enough I found what appeared to be a natural road /trail about 20' wide and as far as I could see either way. Being in these openings felt strange so I would turn back and continue on the main trail.
At one opening I noticed an impression in the ground that appeared to be in the shape of a foot print. Athough it wasn't clear if it was a foot print it seemed odd because it was about 1" deep like an impression of a rock but there was no rock.
Well it feels good to add this to your web site. I have always thought that Sasquatch existed from a young boy in the growing up in the seventies but it was furthest from my mind when I woke up that morning.
OTHER WITNESSES: No other witnesses
OTHER STORIES: None to my knowledge
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Early in the morning around 6:30 -7:00 am
ENVIRONMENT: [see links below]

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker:
I spoke with Steve at length and found out additional information about the incident.
In his report he said at one point during the 20 minute observation that he felt as though he was "looking at a shadow." I was particularly interested to find out what he meant by that.
He said I shouldn't read anything into that comparison and explained that he was only referring to the *uniformity* of color. It did not look like a shadow, but the fact that its greyish-brown color was so uniform from head to toe, at least from a distance, reminded him of the uniformity of color in a man's shadow.
The incident occurred in Kouchibouguac National Park (pronounced "KOOSH-i-BOOJ-u-wack"), on the Northumberland Strait. This is a protected natural reserve where absolutely no hunting is allowed at any time of year, in a country where any guns are scarce due to strict gun laws.
Steve mentioned that it would have been obvious to the animal that a human was present and observing it, especially when he was up in the observation tower about 500 feet away.
When Steve first went up to the observation tower the animal walked out of view. Then, after Steve walked along the boardwalk at ground level for a while and returned to the tower, the animal had returned to the part of the bog where Steve first saw it. This is when the long observation occurred, as the animal calmly walked around picking things from the plants in the bog.
Steve says the animal knew he was there in the tower. The tower only has a guardrail high barrier around it. People are visible from the waist up. Steve was wearing a black motorcycle jacket and jeans. He was not camoflaged or concealed on the tower in any way.
The animal went about its business without paying Steve much attention. Steve's sense was that it left his view initially not because it was frightened of him, but rather because it didn't want to cause a fear reaction in him. When it saw that Steve wasn't going to react with fear, it wasn't bothered. This was just Steve's feeling at the time, which he still stands by, and is entirely possible.
Regarding the grazing acitivity: The animal didn't reach down to the ground but rather to the low (approx. 1.5 foot high) flowering plants in the bog. It didn't bend over but rather bent its knees slightly when reaching for whatever it was grabbing, which was unclear. Steve now believes it was most likely grabbing for the berries and flowers on the plants. There is some unusual natural vegetation in the bog as well, including Venus fly traps (insect eating plants).
Other information provided about the bog area allowed me to identify it as "Kelly's Bog."
Kelly's Bog is located on the following map below the word "Source" in "La Source." This map doesn't mention the name Kelly's Bog but it is described elsewhere on this Canadian web site.
Full map of Kouchibouguac National Park.
The following low-res map shows the central part of the park, where Steve had his sighting. You can see the words "the bog" below the caption for "La Source" in the center of this map. That's the location of Kelly's Bog.
Another map showing ecozones of the park reveals how large Kelly's Bog is.
This sighting is fairly important for various reasons:
1) It occurred in daylight, and the animal was feeding out in the open for an extended period, even after it knew it was being watched by a human.
2) It occurred in a remote Canadian national park (no hunting ever), but in an area developed for nature visitors. The park likely gets very few visitors each year. Steve was there at the height of summer, but his motorcycle was the only vehicle in the parking lot.
3) There's an observation tower that can be used for camera work for anyone who wants to return there to get photos/video.
4) Disclosing the specific location and encouraging public follow up doesn't create much risk for the animals because of the strict enforcement against hunting in this region. Merely entering the park with a long gun would lead someone straight into a Canadian prison.

YEAR: 1990
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
PROVINCE: New Brunswick
COUNTRY: Canada
LOCATION DETAILS: This occured at CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick. Outskirts of Laverna Wood. As far as I know, this is a deserted Canadian village, now used by the Canadian Armed Forces.
OBSERVED: Heard extremely strange noises coming from woods. We could hear and feel the impact of the creature as it ran throught the brush. It was moving at an incredible speed. The sound were similar to the cry of a baby, but distorted and 500 times louder. Nothing like a bear or wild dog. This was very disturbing.
There was a total of 20+ witness(es). Observers were U.S. and Canadian soldiers.
OTHER STORIES: I don't believe in "bigfoot" because I didn't see it, but the noises in the woods that night definitely sparked my interests in the subject. I'm sure everyone else that was there agrees.

Sighting by campers

YEAR: 1983
SEASON: Spring
PROVINCE: New Brunswick
COUNTRY: Canada
LOCATION DETAILS: Riverview NB Canada Trites Road Extention near Mills Creek.
OBSERVED: We were camping in late spring 1983 near Mills Creek. At approx. 7am we were awakened by our 2 dogs running into our lean-too. We had to force the dogs outside only to see them cower under our legs and stare at a large grove of spruce trees. Our group became quite nervous so we lit a fire and kept a close watch at the mentioned area. After approx. 15 min, we heard a rustling sound and we observed a dark upright figure through the bushes for a brief second moving away. The whole time the dogs back hair was raised and they would not leave our sides. About 30 mins later we heard a repetative grunting sound some distance away for about 5 secs. Needless to say, we did not investigate the area as most of our group was quite terrified and we cautiously left several min later.
ALSO NOTICED: Grunting.
OTHER WITNESSES: Sleeping.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Late spring 1983.
ENVIRONMENT: Approx. 10 meters from Mills Creek.
