Ontario Sasquatch Sightings
Temagami Bigfoot!
Location: Cabin on small lake just outside Lady Evelyn Smoothwater Park in Temagami Ontario, Canada.
Witnesses: Mr and Mrs. D Heibert
Date: April 15th 2009
Time: 2:39 pm
At approx. 2:39 in the afternoon Mrs. Heibert was opening the blinds in the back bedroom of the cabin and noticed a very large hairy upright creature on the top of the hill about 50-70 yards away. She informed Mr. Heibert who grabbed the digital camera and went outside to take a picture of it. While walking around the back corner of the cabin powering up his camera (8 MP Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT, 300 mm lens) out of the corner of his eye he noticed it had seen him and froze. He had to delete several pictures from his SD card in order to be able to take any pictures. Mr. Heibert managed to take 2 pictures and while looking down at the camera it disappeared only to reappear 15 minutes later at the wood pile. It was peeking at him from the tree line beside a path. It was approx. 10 + feet tall and very massive. The creature roughly estimated to be twice the size of the witness. 3 pictures were taken in all. The pictures were taken from the back of the cottage looking up the hill from the top of the propane tank cabinet.
“This thing stood perfectly still for what seemed like 5 minutes. I turned my head for a split second and it was gone”.
In the following weeks the screens were pushed in or torn off some windows of the cabin.
The encounter was reported to the MNR and OPP in New Liskeard on April 28/2009. 3 digitally transferred pictures were left with the officer as well as a one page written report on the incident and the witness’s phone number. The officer they spoke with found it hard to believe they were reporting it and asked, : are you serious about this, and laughed....
A game Warden and several MNR biologists (Names withheld) attended the cabin and stayed several days investigating and taking pictures of the area. They stayed on after the witnesses left.
In 2010 witnesses sell cabin. Witness’s wife was no longer comfortable and afraid to go there.
They believe the cabin has since been torn down.
Previously In summer 2004 they were awoken at 2 am by what seemed like really deep penetrating ground thuds, like picking up a huge boulder and pounding on the ground it shook the entire landscape. It went on for about 20 min and was very random maybe 10 or 15 hits to the ground. It was very singular and deep like a seismic thumper truck, the last hit to the ground was followed by the sound of big trees cracking bout 150 yards out. The witness made coffee and stayed up till dawn that night.
In 2006 after lending a local friend and three others the cabin for hunting season. They reported two black or dark blue helicopters flying low and circling for several days and nights in the area. It was definitely not Game people doing rabies cube drops; this would have been fall 2006. It is assumed they were looking for someone or something and that was also the first year in many that no one received a moose tag to his knowledge.
In 2007 there was three large boulders put on the road at the bottom of the hill as you come into the top of Lake xxxx it looked like they were rolled down the hill and placed there. Two of them came up to door of the truck, one was the height of the bumper, and one of them was still there in 2010 because people began to just drive around it.
Ontario Wildlife Field Research- Ontario Bigfoot has many ongoing investigations in the Temagami area. Temagami is a very rich area for reports and incidents with this unknown creature. As well as many historic reports from other investigative groups and the local media. In our opinion these witnesses (Mr. and Mrs. Heibert) are very honest and forthcoming with answers to our many questions. We appreciate the valuable information and knowledge we have gained by hearing they’re story.

Old Yellow Top
Old Yellow Top was allegedly a shaggy haired humanoid with a yellowish mane and a pronounced limp said to have wandered near the mines in Cobalt, Ontario, Canada. The following newspaper articles, dated 1923 to 1970 are all courtesy John Green, Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia, 1997...
Sept 1906 and July 1923 -North Bay Nugget (Ontario)
PRE CAMBRIAN SHIELD MAN SEEN BY TWO PROPECTORS
"Cobalt, Ontario Canada July 27,1923 - Mr. J. A. MacAuley and Mr. Lorno Wilson claim they have seen the "Pre-Cambrian shield man" while working on their mining claims North and East of the Wettlaufer Mine, near Cobalt. This is the second time in seventeen years that a hairy ape-like creature nicknamed "Old Yellow-Top" because of a light colored mane has been seen in the district. The two prospectors said they were taking test samples from their claim property when they spotted what looked like a bear picking in a blueberry patch. Mr. Wilson said he threw a stone at the creature. He said, "It kind of stood up and growled at us, then ran away. It sure was like no bear I have ever seen. Its head was kind of yellow and the rest of it was black, like a bear, all covered with hair." The first report of the creature was made in Sept. 1906, by a group of men building the head frame at the Violet Mine, east of Cobalt. It has not been seen since that time."
... And this news item dated April 16, 1947 -- North Bay Nugget - Ontario
”OLD YELLOW-TOP" REPORTED SEEN IN COLEMAN TOWNSHIP
Cobalt, Ontario, Canada. - "Old Yellow-Top", the half-man, half beast that is supposed to be roaming the wilds around the Cobalt Mining Camp, was supposedly seen again by a woman and her son who live near Gillies Depot, while they were walking the tracks into Cobalt. The woman, who did not want her name made public, said she noticed a dark hairy animal with a "light" head ambling off the tracks into the bush near Gillies Lake. She said she did not get a clear look at the thing, but said it walked very much like a man. The sighting is the third such report to be made since 1906, or 1947. A search party was formed to try to find "Old Yellow-Top".

THIRD APPEARANCE BY PRE-CAMBRIAN SHIELD MAN ( Actually, 4th )
Results in Bus Accident near Cobalt Lode Mine
Cobalt, Ontario Canada - Twenty seven miners on their way to work the graveyard shift at Cobalt Lode could have lost their lives when the bus in which they were riding went out of control and almost plunged down a nearby rock cut. Bus driver Amos Latreille, who has been driving the route for the last four months, said a dark form, which walked across the road in front of him, startled him. "At first, I thought it was a big bear. But then it turned to face the headlights, and I could see some light hair almost down to its shoulders. It couldn't have been a bear." Although no one was hurt, Mr. Latreille said he did not know if he would continue to drive the bus. "I have heard of this thing before, but never believed it. Now I am not so sure." One of the miners at the front of the bus said he caught a brief glimpse of the creature. Larry Cormack said it "looked like a bear to me at first, but it didn't walk like one. It was kind of all stooped over. Maybe it was a wounded bear, I don't know." Mr. Cormack added that he did not believe that PreCambrian Shield Man existed anyway.” My father used to talk about it, but I've seen it close up," he pointed out. The story started back early 1900s when a group of construction workers claimed to have seen the creature.

Daytime sighting behind a cabin near Westport
YEAR: 2008
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: 15
NEAREST TOWN: Westport
NEAREST ROAD: County Road #10
OBSERVED: I had just woken up and it was a lovely sunny August morning - so I pulled up the blind and looked out of window on the 2nd floor at the back of our cabin.I said to my husband "there is a man walking through our woods". He said "Let's go and see who it is".
Then it happened I suddenly felt really fearful and said "No".
After that statement I have been replaying the sight like a full internal video - with plenty of questions in my mind (like there were no clothes) and am now glad to find your site.
As soon as I looked out I saw a large dark figure stride out of the forest and into a small grassed clearing about 40 to 50 metres from the back of our cabin. The figure was over 6 feet and was mostly medium brown - with different coloured brown patches and one patch of hay coloured yellow on its side that stood out in the sun. It walked with a fluid grace and in three long strides crossed the clearing. Then it turned its face towards me for a split second and it had a dark grayish flat face - which to me had no brown patches.
ALSO NOTICED: Later that morning we heard crashes and breaking twigs in the forest behind our cabin and later we had a rail come from the swamp area screaming and petrified in a way I have never heard before.
OTHER WITNESSES: one
OTHER STORIES: no
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 9:30 am
- a bright sunny morning, warm day
- the sun totally illuminated the grassy area where the observation was made
ENVIRONMENT: Our forest is a shield forest - lots of white pine, maples, oaks amount rock outcrops and small grassy areas - from the road the forest goes to a ridge which runs above a stream and a large swamp.

Daylight sighting by emergency services worker driving on Hwy 11 just outside Fort Frances
YEAR: 2007
SEASON: Summer
LOCATION DETAILS: just west of town. less then 2 kms from Fort Frances
NEAREST TOWN: Fort Frances, Ont
NEAREST ROAD: highway 11
OBSERVED: One evening last year, Aug or Sept, I believe, I was driving into town, Proceeding easterly on hwy 11. as I was JUST outside of the town limits (the curve immediately before the window and glass store here in Fort Frances) I saw... something.. cross the highway going from south to north about 500 meters in front of me. It was around 7pm, so there was still ample daylight left, and the weather was perfect, no fog, ect. What I saw stood about as tall as a moose. In fact, I thought it was a moose at first, but something was wrong with the picture, as it was striding across the highway on two legs. I remember thinking; "where is the other half of the moose?" the hair looked as if it had the same texture as moose 'fur', hair, whatever... and a bit darker. It seemed quite well practiced at walking on 2 feet, not like a bear at all. It simply crossed from the woods on the south side to the woods on the north side. I sped up a bit, hoping to catch a glimpse of it as it went deeper into the bush, but had no luck.
OTHER WITNESSES: no other witnesses. I was driving into town. Traveling East
OTHER STORIES: You have the details on here already.. both in Fort Frances, and in the surrounding areas in canada and minnesota
TIME AND CONDITIONS: +/- 1900hrs
Still good sun, clear weather
ENVIRONMENT: thick, dense boreal forest on both sides of highway

Daylight sighting close to tourist cabins near Sioux Narrows
YEAR: 2006
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: it was a saturday
LOCATION DETAILS: Northwestern Ontario
NEAREST ROAD: Hwy #71
OBSERVED: working part-time for a tourist camp. I had two young teenage girls assisting me that day. I instructed them to clean cabin #6 while i was in cabin #1. The girls came to cabin #1 when they were finished cabin #6. I told them to finish cabin #1 while i went to inspect cabin #6. As i was passing cabin #5 i heard a loud crack in the bush to the right of me. My first thought was it is either a deer or a bear. I turned to look and was shocked to see this sasquatch walking through the bush. I stood there in amazement just looking at it. It continued to walk & out of curiousity or stupidity i followed it until i lost sight of it behind cabin #6. I think it stopped because i didn't hear its heavy foot steps through the brush anymore. I was too chicken to get any closer than i was. I would describe it to be about 5'10", reddish-brown in colour, covered head to toe in hair. very stocky, broad shoulders. walked up-right on two feet. didn't get a look at its face though. i figure i was about 40 feet away from it.
ALSO NOTICED: none
OTHER WITNESSES: no witnesses but there were other people in camp
OTHER STORIES: not that i know of.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: early afternoon about 1:00 p.m, sunny & hot shady under the trees & under forest
ENVIRONMENT: near lake shore, mixed stand of hardwood & conifers

Morning daylight encounter with grouse hunter on Indian Island 45 km east of Fort Francis
YEAR: 1993-94
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: September
DATE: 1-7
LOCATION DETAILS: Red Gut Bay, Rainy Lake, ONT, Canada
NEAREST TOWN: 45 kms east of Fort Frances
NEAREST ROAD: Kings Highway 11-71
OBSERVED: What I saw when I was 14 years old is still hard to believe to this very day, it was around the first week of September I headed out to do some bird hunting like I had done years before with my grandfather. On this day he figured that I was old enough and wise enough to do this on my own now. So I went to the same old skidder trails that I have hunted since I can remember. I went out at approx: 7:00am with my 410 shot gun and my little mixed dog which was very aggressive and had run ins with bears, moose deer and everything else that lives through out the bush in northern Ontario {Red Gut Bay, Rainy Lake} since we were both young in the vast forest I had been hunting for about an hour or two with no results {Grouse} very odd for these trails which had always carried a large population of birds. I tried three or four different trails when my dog began to act very nervous and skittish on the fourth and most northerly trail, I knew something was near most likely a bear since I was starting to smell what I can only describe as a wet dog mixed with a garbage smell, it was more intense the farther up I walked the trail. With in seconds my mean little hunting dog which would and had chased or fought off anything we had come across before because she was so protective of me had suddenly took off like a greyhound in a race down back the trail when I had just started to call her name "Tina" when I heard the tall grass about three feet high in those grown over trails begin to shuffle when what I will say was a huge man-like creature which was at least twice as big and tall as any bear I had seen before or seen since. This, what I can now call a "Bigfoot" stood up, glanced at me for a second then calmly crossed into the other side of the trail in what I think was maybe two or three steps. I was 6 feet tall at that time it would have taken me half a dozen or so steps to cover that kind of ground with old logs and rocks hidden under that grass. It made almost no noise as it did so. The most outstanding features on this creature was the size of it's upper body but mostly the dark almost grayish black eyes, large ridges over its eyes were the eye brows would be, big brownish red lips, yes I was this close and scared to death even to scared to think about running or using the shotgun that was in my hands. I think I stood there for a minute or so I think maybe longer frozen with fear, the thing that may have snapped me out of this was where is my dog, my best friend that had took off so quickly. On my very fast way back down the trail I heard large branches being broke as if it was running from me as fast as I was from it. I asked myself a hundred times what the hell that could have been, now I am certain it was a Bigfoot, with it's reddish black hair or fur and walking upright with human features there was no way it could be anything else period! I have kept this secret for a long time not even telling my grandparents when I got back to the cabins. I was so stressed about this that I did not hunt for two years after that, and have never went back to those trails since.
ALSO NOTICED: bad smell, really bad

Since I was a baby my family would spend 2 weeks out of the year in Ufford Ontario. The camp site was forest rock camp, and our cabin was placed about 50 feet in the bush, from other cabins.
One night at about 2am, I was awakened by a sneeze, a very deep sneeze, and a garbage, skunk, rotten meat, wet dog smell.
My bed was about 8 feet from my window, as it was a very hot night mother opened my window.
What I am about to tell you is the truth, I swear on my life. Something walked to my window, almost totally blocking the moonlight, and looked in. It had a head the size of a cow, but looked like a monkey, a man monkey. I remember wimpering, and my mother getting up. It must have heard her for it disappeared.
I told her what I saw, and she laughed, and said it was just a deer, or a cow. I never forgot that night.
Now, years later, when talking to my father, who`s parents owned the camp, told me something I`ll never forget. I asked him what scared him the most in life, you know being in the war on the opp.
What he told me, astonished me. It was about 1936, and him and his brother Roy were picking dew worms on the edge of a thick bush. Dad says he heard a grunt and some rustling, so he shone
his lantern into the bush.....and a giant hairy man walked away. Sorry but that`s all I could get out of him. He was trembling telling the story.
ALSO NOTICED: In the morning, looked like a small car had plowed through bush and trees. Footprints visible!
OTHER STORIES: Yes refer to fathers statement
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It occured around 2am. It was very
hot, and there was moonlight.
ENVIRONMENT: The environment was thick pine forest on a lake
3mile lake, not many people in the camp at that time.

LOCATION DETAILS: Ufford county is about 50 miles outside of Bracebridge, 4 hours north of Toronto

Woman recalls childhood sighting outside a cottage in the Southern Georgian Bay area
YEAR: 1968
SEASON: Summer
DATE: not known
LOCATION DETAILS: [Location details edited out -- Southern Georgian Bay area]
NEAREST ROAD: Muskoka 5 (which did not then have this name)
OBSERVED: I was 11 years old, and staying at our old cottage on a Georgian Bay island. It was a hot night and we slept with all the windows open. The smaller children slept in another room and had gone to be earlier. It was about 10:00 PM when I went to bed alone in another room. My door was open, and I lay on one side facing the door. About 2 minutes after my light went off, while I was listening to the adults (6 of them) away down the hallway in the family room talking and telling jokes, I got the worst feeling of being watched, from behind me, where the windows were. I remember my heart began to pound, because I was frightened.
I wanted to run down the hall and get the grownups, so I threw back the covers, and whipped around to look at the windows as I got out of bed. There were three double casements, all standing wide open due to the heat. In the far left window, between the sill and the open window pane, was a large, roundish head. I saw no features, and there were no hands at the sill. However, I frightened it, because it ducked down and banged its head, hard, on the open window--I heard it clearly. I ran out to get the grownups, but they told me I had been dreaming and to go back to bed. I made my dad close and lock all the windows.
As an adult, I stand 5.5 feet tall, and these windows are well above my head when I stand outside the cottage. You would have to be over six feet tall to peek in, and stand on something or pull yourself up to fit your whole head into the open casement.
I still go to this cottage. Sometimes I stay there alone with my kids. I cannot bring myself to sleep with the windows open on even the hottest nights. Even if my husband is there.
[You have no idea how many times I have replayed this incident in my mind--I'm sorry I cannot produce more details about the head I saw; every year when I pack for the cottage I think of it and am made uneasy.]
ALSO NOTICED: Actually, 2 somethings strange but more recent. (1)Maybe three years ago, at night, in July my husband and I had just gone to bed when there was an awful cry out in the woods--like a cross between a coyote and a bird and ghost--quite long and very loud with several pitch changes. My husband (who grew up in a city) laughed and said he thought that would have scared the Voyageurs as they sat around their fires at night, ha, ha, ha. Well, I grew up in the countryside and I know every animal and bird that lives in the northeast, and I have NEVER heard the likes of that before or since. (2) Maybe about 2000, I had just turned out my light in the back bedroom when something slammed into the side of the cottage, hard. My 12 yr old son came running down the hall from the bunk room because he'd heard it too. Whatever it was hit the side of the house about midway along the hallway. I was scared to death, alone with my kids in the dark, alone on an island, but I told him it was the siding contracting and making a noise, like the pipes when the heat turns on. All the doors in the cottage are glass & they don't lock, so I spent a horrible night. I refuse to scare the kids and I let all of them wander all over . . . .
OTHER WITNESSES: No others.
OTHER STORIES: No.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: About 10:00 PM. It was very hot, very still, and humid.
ENVIRONMENT: The island is part of the Canadian shield --the whole area is rough or wind-swept granite shorelines covered with pine and oak forests. There were large areas of swale inside the island. It is secluded enough to house deer, bear, grouse, bobcat, mink, etc., plus a huge number of reptiles & amphibians. The back of the cottage sticks out into the woods & has huckleberry bushes growing all around it and under the windows. It was quiet then-few boats on the lake at night, few lights.

Night time sighting by policeman on the Trans-Canada Hwy, ~100 miles west of Cochrane
YEAR: 1992
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: October
DATE: 4th
LOCATION DETAILS: hwy 11 north to northbay then the transcanada hwy to Cochrane then west about 100 miles
NEAREST TOWN: Cochrane
NEAREST ROAD: Trans-Canada Hwy
OBSERVED: First I have never told anyone about this sighting untill this year. I working for the durham regional police and have since 1979. I was going moose hunting and my friend was driving we had been on the road about 9 to 10 hours going to Igness Ontario. We were about 100 miles west of Cochrane Ontario on the Transcanada hwy. This area has the bush cut back some 30 to 40 yards on each side of the road when i noticed an animial coming out of the north side of a ditch area and run across a two lane hwy. We were about 100 yards away and moving up fast as we were driving at about 65 to 70 mph (100 to 115 klms). This animinal ran across the road on two legs and were about 20 yards away. By the time it crossed the road my friend turned to me and said "what the hell was that." I said don't you know that was a sasquach/a bigfoot. He turned to me and said it was not. I'm not going to have people call me nuts, so I said OK? What was it? He said a man in a fur suit. We argued about this for a few minutes, even though we were about 100 miles away from the nearest town. We never said another thing about it till this year, and he stll says he has never seen anything. Now let me describe this animal. It was about 6 to 7 feet tall, very long and muscular arms that went down to its knees. It was covered in fur that reminded me of moose hair. It did turn to look at the truck we were driving -- a chevy 4x4 . It looked like it was as tall or a little bit taller than the cab of the truck. It only took about 5 or 6 steps to cross the two lane hwy and down into the ditch we were passing. This was at night between 7 and 10 pm.
OTHER WITNESSES: two however my friend still says he say he saw nothing as he does not want to be called nuts
TIME AND CONDITIONS: between 7 and 9pm cold and crisp about 37 degrees
ENVIRONMENT: this is northern Ontario Canada its all pine forest cedar/evergreens.this area is as far as i can tell at night fairly flat in this area

Roadside sighting by a father and son north of Brockville
YEAR: 2006
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: December
DATE: 5th
LOCATION DETAILS: Near Highway 29, north of Brockville, on the way to Graham lake.
NEAREST TOWN: Brockville(large)
NEAREST ROAD: Highway 29 North
OBSERVED: My father (75) was driving to Addison (town) to see his mechanic to give him an early Christmas gift. I (49) was sitting in the passenger seat (front) of a 2002 Montana van. We were approaching a curve in the road with a house on the left with two large cedars, when I noticed a large dark brown object (furry, like an otter coat) run behind a billboard sign (LUCKY LOON CAMPGROUND) into the brush and wooded area. I saw it for about five seconds as it made its way over the crossroad. I estimated its size by comparing it to the cedars that were on the property, and it was more than half the cedar's height of around 16-17 feet (so approx. 8-9 feet). It appeared to be running upright like a man with a swinging motion. Thick body (trunk 3-4 feet wide). Arms held tightly to side of body-no visible hands. Rear view only. Appearance of shoulders and head.
There was newly fallen snow from the night before, but it seemed that the object jumped over the shoulder of the road and left an impression on a small rise (or bank) toward the bush. It seemed as if the impression was an irregular shaped large peanut shape with snow in the center where the arch would be of a foot.
Nearby there were broken cedars, and a newly formed path through the bush was evident.
Did not report event to authorities, but mentioned it to residents (husband and wife) who came walking by later. Told them to be careful. Talked to two friends as well about the incident.
ALSO NOTICED: Imprint(?), broken cedars and branches, path through brush.
OTHER WITNESSES: (1) ME... looking at roadway and wooded area to the left. (2) My father was looking right at the roadway, and did not see the event occur, but witnessed the impression and the cedar and brush damage.

Pre-dawn road crossing sighting by trucker 40 miles west of Toronto
YEAR: 2004

LOCATION DETAILS: about 5miles south west of Acton ontario.
highway #25 south to sideroad 22 go west to Nassagaweya-[Puslinch] town line, south to sideroad 20.
NEAREST TOWN: acton
NEAREST ROAD: side road 20
OBSERVED: My name is Mark, I live in the city of kitchener Ontario Canada, I have been a little reluctant about reporting what had happened to me on my way to work last Dec. 16 2004, I believe I had an encounter with a creature or something of this sort, that I cannot explain?
I was driving to work, the time would have been 5:33am when this sighting took place heading down side Rd 20, coming up to a T intersection making a left turn at Nassagaweya-[Puslinch] town line. And heading north, just after I made the turn and fumbling with my coffee cup, something caught my eye! I was startled by a large figure, on the right side of the road. It was walking (upright) towards me, the head lights of my truck facing right at it, it had dark brown fur, with brindle color in it, as I was traveling closer, it started to move off the road way into a ditch and disappeared off in the bush.
I would say the distances as I passed by it would have been less than fifty feet. I would guess the height of this creature to be about seven feet tall.
This sighting took place just south west of Acton Ontario Canada

Afternoon sighting by couple on Highway 11 outside Latchford
YEAR: 2006
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: October
DATE: 11
LOCATION DETAILS: Central Ontario
NEAREST ROAD: Hwy #11
OBSERVED: Driving southbound on a fairly busy road looking at the scenery and just noticing a large black movement to the right. Initially I thought a black burnt out tree trunk but the arm swing was the give away. I noticed the movement of the arms in a full motion from front to back. It only lasted about 6 seconds but as I couldn't see it anymore - due to my wifes head in the way. Sounds funny but seconds later as the sighting was sinking in and my mind was trying to figure out what I just saw my wife said" I just saw a saquatch". I immediately stopped and turned around but there was no further sighting.
She said that it looked like a moss man. All clumpy blackish hair with no neck. She only saw it from the waist up also. All we kept saying is how unreal it was to see and how big it was. The arms were massive.
ALSO NOTICED: After returning to the site a couple weeks later to do some research I found that the initial height estimate of the sasquatch was wrong. The trees that were in the area were laying as if the wind had blown them down. The animal was walking through these trees which at most places were three feet from the ground. Standing in the area were it was sighted I could not see the road. When I stood up on the tree trunk then I could just see the road. I am 6 so adding the height of the tree/log that I stood on brought me to about 8 feet at least. At this point you would only be able to see my head and the sasquatch was visible from about the waist and up. The entire arm swing was visible putting this animal at about a height of 10 to 11 feet. That weems unrealistic to me but it is the only way to have seen so much of the animal.
Something else which was interesting. I could not figure why it would be walking there as the area adjacent was void of these fallen timber. When climbing through these trees I noticed a large amount of rabbits/hares running through the undergrowth. I think this is definitely what the sasquatch was going after.
OTHER WITNESSES: Yes, one other.
OTHER STORIES: Yes, there are many stories.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: time was 3 in the afternoon
ENVIRONMENT: Rocky, forested area with marshy bogs in between the high areas. Some logged areas.

Forest Growth and Yield Tech has strange encounter while working in forest
YEAR: 2006
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: September
DATE: Sept 2006
NEAREST TOWN: Matheson
NEAREST ROAD: Highway 101
OBSERVED: The incident happened during a job in Northeastern Ontario, close to the Quebec border. Sometime in the middle of September 2006, on a beautiful warm, sunny day, my partner and I were working growth and yield plots (PGP) obtaining information to determine the health of the forest. I know the closest town to the incident was about 65kms away. Matheson, Ontario. Our plot was located about 700 metres North from the road were we had parked the truck. I remember the walk into the plot being annoyingly brushy for the first 100 metres or so, a lot of red osier dogwood and tag alder making it a chore to carry our tools to the work site. At the true location of the plot, the trees were mature and the sun beamed in and down. After we had completed measuring trees within the plot we starting aging test trees. Suddenly we heard what sounded like an old rotten log being ripped apart just metres from where we were working. We both stood up and gave a little attention to the noise, hoping to determine if we were too close to a bear. Through my own evaluation of the noise, I decided to walk back to my vest and grab a can of bear spray, and a soil auger. As I returned to my partner I asked if the bear was persistant in rummaging the log. My partner's reply was that it seemed to circle around us back toward the vehicle. Again we heard noise, this time the movement of shaley rock like the heavy paws crushing the shale: cush..cush...cush. Neither of us could get a visual of the bear, and decided it was cautiously avoiding us. So we continued working the plot. About 10 minutes later my partner finished drilling soil with the auger, and had laid down the soil sample to take notes when a huge wet boomerang- shaped chunk of rotten tree root was thrown into the canopy above us, crashed past branches, arched over toward us and landed just to the left of where I was standing. My partner stood up quickly to look around. Startled by the incident, he said, "Of all the years in the bush...that was f*#king weird."
I asked him if other crews were in the area. We had the only paper work that could possibly compass anyone to our location. So I yelled "Ryan? Steve?...whatever guys!" but who could possible throw a wet rotten chunk of wood weighing about 55lbs that far, that high? Suddenly another smaller stick flew the same path as the root, again landing close by us. "THAT'S IT!!!" I decided to walk toward the direction that the flying objects were coming from. I still had no visual of anything as I started losing sight of my partner and then Bang. I'm standing absolutly still thinking to myself, Who would place an 8ft tall haystack here in the middle of nowhere? It was a precarious-looking haystack. Then I realize it's not a haystack. I remember thinking to look away before you scare it or it moves. My heart and breathing lost rhythm, and shock prevented me from moving normally. I caught my breath painfully enough so I could walk back to my partner. Decisions and memory felt distorted and everything raced through my mind as I continued toward my partner. I asked myself over and over, did that just happen? DID THAT JUST HAPPEN? When I arrived back to the work site about 200-300 metres away, my partner asked. "So, what is it?" I replied "Nothing, let's finish up quick, and get the f@#k out of here." I never told poor Luke who continues working out there what I saw that day, or that I was treated for anxiety as a result when we returned home.

LOCATION DETAILS: Take Hwy 17 North from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario about 15 miles to a town called Heyden. Turn right or go east on the Ranger lake Road about 12 miles to the Northland Lake Road. Turn right and follow the dirt road about a mile to a dirt road that leads to a communications tower and turn right. Follow this road about a mile to a small "y" and turn left. Go down a hill and cross the creek and follow the path to the first "y". Turn left and follow this path south for about 1/4 mile to a clearing. I saw the creature about 50 yards East of the clearing. I can show you on a map if you like.
NEAREST TOWN: Searchmount, Ontario, Canada
NEAREST ROAD: Ranger Lake Road
OBSERVED: Before I start, let me give you my background.
I am 50 yrs old, have 2 kids and 2 grandkids, have been married for over 29 yrs and have been a Toronto Police Officer for over 28 yrs. I started shooting when I was 7 yrs old, started hunting woodchucks and rabbits when I was 9 or 10 yrs old. I did alot of fishing, canoeing, boating, camping and hiking when I was a kid. I started hunting Deer and Bear when I was about 14 or 15 and have every year since, and started hunting Moose about 14 years ago. My parents were Salvation Army Officers and were transferred all over Canada. I have done all of the above all over Canada during my younger years and continue now in Ontario where I permanently reside in Ajax which is just 10 minutes East of Toronto. For the last 10 yrs I have hunted Moose about 30 miles N/E of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario near a small town called Searchmount near Northland Lake.
Over the years I have seen all kinds of wildlife but have never laid eyes on what I saw last week while hunting Moose. I thought I was losing my marbles and that thought was reenforced when I told my brother in law (my hunting partner)the story. I later told my wife over the phone my story and she was intrigued by my story. She apparently told a coworker who found your site on the internet. When I called her to tell her I was on the way home she told me of your site and that there were several sightings in Ontario. That's when I realized that maybe I wasn't just seeing things or losing my head. When I got home I checked out your site and figure your the only people I can tell my story to that won't think I'm completly nuts. Anyhow... to my story.....sorry....it's a little long but it doesn't make sense if I don't tell it all.....
My brother in law and I were hunting Moose just N/E of Sault Ste Marie. On Tuesday 14 Oct 2003 I went up an old trail to where it came to a dead end. I got stuck on my ATV in the mud but managed to get out and turn around. I went part way back down the trail to where I found a clearing and parked on the West side where I could see about 200 yards North and South. I stopped there at about 7:45 am. I put out some Moose cow in heat urine scent on the surrounding trees and a few minutes later did a Moose Cow call on my horn. I looked at my watch which said it was 8:05 am. At about 8:15 am it started to rain. I didn't want to get my gun wet so I put it back in the gun boot on my ATV. The rain helps hide my scent but at the same time makes it noisey in the bush with the water hitting the ground, leaves, trees etc. At 8:30 am I started hearing footsteps and snapping twigs coming from the N/E of my position.
The rain noise disguised this noise until it was very close to me and because of this I wasn't ready (gun still in boot). All of a sudden I heard the destinctive sound of a Bull Moose raking his rack on the brush very close. I looked to my left and saw a huge bull raking his rack about 70 yards from me. I reached back and pulled my gun from the boot but dropped the boot cover on the top of my ATV which made a banging noise. When I turned back to where the Moose was, it took off back into the dense brush. I thought this was a bit strange because I have seen several Moose in the past that just stood there. They don't seem to be afraid of anything and just stand there. I've had them stand in front of me for several minutes before walking off into the bush in the past and couldn't understand why this one took off so fast. I stayed still for about an hour hoping he would come back. During that time I called on my horn and heard him rake his rack on the bush twice and grunt at me as he headed off in a Southerly direction through the bush. It turns out there was a gulley just out my line of sight that he used to walk around me and disappear.
I was later able to raise my brother in law on the radio who showed up and went to where I had seen the Moose. He checked the bush and found fresh tracks which showed the Moose had gone around me in this gulley which was just out of my line of vision. He suggested that I sit near where the Mooose had come out and see if he might come back. I then crossed the clearing and sat on my ATV about 5 yards from where I saw the Moose and sat facing East. Again I sprayed some Moose Cow in Heat urine scent on the trees around me and did a few calls on my horn. By this time it was around 12:30pm. I had decided that I would sit there for the rest of the day hoping to see the Bull come back. While there I ate my lunch, got off the ATV a few times to stretch my legs, had a few cigarettes and even had a little snooze. During this time my back was to the gulley that the Bull had used to walk around me. At about 1:30pm I started hearing heavy thumps behind me every now and then. Every time I heard one, I would turn around but there was nothing there. I should mention that it was still raining. The sound of the rain hitting the ground or the leaves was quite loud but these thumps were much louder. They sounded like a stone or something heavy hitting the ground, but every time I turned around, I saw nothing.
At about 5:25pm I got off the ATV to stretch my legs and have a smoke. I put my gun on the front bag of the ATV to make sure I had it within reach and stood in front of the ATV facing the gulley which was to my rear prior to this. While I was having my smoke I started hearing the destinctive sounds of footsteps coming from the gulley (snapping branches and leaves crunching). I kept my eyes on the gulley while I reached for my rifle. I thought the Bull was coming back. When I looked into the gulley about 40 yards straight in front of me I saw what I thought was a man walking towards me. He was stooped over and looked like he was having trouble walking in the bush. He grabbed a tree and swung himself around and ducked or dove down behind some thick brush. The total time of this took 3 to 5 seconds and he disappeared. He looked to me as if he was dressed all in black with a black toque or a balaclava on his head. The reason I though he was wearing a toque was his head seemed to be long at the back like a man wearing a toque. It looked like it was wearing a jacket and the front of his jacket was open half way and I could see a different color of lining showing around the neck area. It looked like it was light gray or almost blue on the chest area in the shape of a 'V'.
I couldn't really say how tall it was because his legs were behind thick brush and I could only see to about mid thigh. But I would have guessed at the time that he was anywhere from 5'8" to 6' tall. But he was about 40 yards away and it's hard to judge height or size in the bush when you're not sure of the distance. His arms seemed too long for a man but he was extremley muscular, like a body builder with the typical 'V' shape build. There was definetly no fat on him at all. I could see the different muscle groups on his upper body and arms bulging out and could see that it had a washboard stomach. When he grabbed the tree I saw that he had hands, not paws. He swung around the tree and dove for cover as if trying to hide from me. As I said earlier, it was a dull day and was raining and he looked wet. He was covered with black or dark brown hair and it looked like the hair was stuck to him fairly closely because he was wet. What also gave me the body builder impression was that he seemed to have no neck, or he had so much muscle on his shoulders that it gave that appearance. On top of all this his shoulders were extremley broad.
There was a line of dense brush leading off to my left from where it dove into which carried on for about 30 - 40 yards. About 10 to 15 seconds after it went behind this brush, I heard a hoarse, raspy cough followed by a long, hoarse, sad sounding howl. It sounded like a wolf howl but much deeper than any wolf I've ever heard. The sound came from about 20 yards from where I first saw it dive for cover.
When I first saw it, I thought it was a man maybe lost in the bush. But my first thought was "Why isn't he wearing any orange" and "if he's lost, why doesn't he just ask for help". But the howl made me realize quickly that this was no man. The next thing going through my head was "What the hell was that?". That was no Moose. It was definetly not a Wolf or a Bear. It was like nothing I had ever seen in 35 years of hunting. What it looked like to me was a Gorilla or very close to one, but it walked upright, not on all fours. I stood there motionless for almost an hour and a half waiting to see if it would show itself again.
During that time I remembered a show I saw on the Discovery channel about a month before this trip about a man and his son that were hunting in British Columbia where they saw a large animal throwing rocks at them. They took off and reported it to whoever and they later figured out it might be a Bigfoot warning them to get out of his area. I then thought about the loud heavy thumping noises behind me and realized that maybe this creature was throwing something at me. After a while it started to dawn on me that I may have just seen a Bigfoot and I started to get just a little scared. I normally leave the bush after dark when hunting but this night I left about a half hour prior to make sure I had lots of time. I was going to go back to that area the next day looking for that Bull but I couldn't bring myself to go anywhere near that spot. That's the first time in 35 years I have ever been afraid in the bush.
Since then I have wondered if this thing I saw is what scared the Bull away. Like I said earlier, I have seen many Moose in the bush and have never seen one run from me like that. Interestingly though, from where the Bull ran off to where I saw this creature was only about 50 yards.
Another thing...I don't know if this means anything or not....Where I was sitting I saw a large, probably Moose leg bone laying on the ground about 5 feet from my ATV. It wasn't cut or sawed, it had been broken or snapped. It looked to be about at least a year old.
ALSO NOTICED: The Moose was about 50 yards from where I saw the creature.

DATE: 9th or 10th
LOCATION DETAILS: Hwy 557 runs north just of HYW17 which is a main road to Sault Ste. Marie The location is 3/4 of the way up 557 at the foot end of Bear Head lake. The area is generally impenetratable bush with some logging in areas. The area is over run by black bears and they are common, they always run when they see a person.
NEAREST TOWN: Blind River
NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 557
OBSERVED: I found your site over the summer, I'm not sure what I saw except it wasn't a bear.
The area is north of the North Shore of lake Huron, north of Blind River by about twenty miles on Bear Head lake. The area is incredibly dense bush and in most places impenetratable due to low scrub and swamp. We were at a cottage, one of about 8 or 9 on the lake on the east side. The west side of the lake had no habitation just rock and thick bush. There are lots of critters, bears, wolves, moose and deer along with porcupines. I am fairly faimiliar with all of these animals and their noises, for the most part they are scared of humans and they bolt when they see a person. We had been at the cottage a few days perhaps 3, when whilst sitting around the kitchen table talking fishing late at night with my sons we heard a series of grunts chirps and squeals. I thought it might have been a bear with young across the lake as the cubs often can be heard squealing and playing in this area. The noises however were much more organised than bear cubs and were coming from two different locations. The distance across the lake is perhaps 500 yards. It was fairly obvious that the sounds were coming from two areas about 15 degrees apart. The noise of wood breaking and banging was quite loud and it was interspersed with a series of whooping grunts, best decription. We stepped out on to the deck to listen better, it was fairly obvious that one noise was getting closer to the other. My neighbour who has lived on the lake for 40 years was out having a beer and taking the night air. His knowledge of the woods and area is way better than mine. I called him over to listen and as we all hushed and listened for a few minutes. I could tell by his head shaking that he had no idea what it was. The noises were really loud and it sounded like mayhem was breaking loose trees being smacked and banging noises shouts and whoops. Then it went quiet really quickly which was followed by a series of deep whooping noises and clicks which went on intermittently past the point I went to sleep.
The following day my lads headed out in the canoe out to where a fallen tree could be seen across the lake the day before, immediately it was obvious that the tree had gone from our perspective. I shouted to them where is the tree? They went across and then started to paddle back. I was looking at eagles overhead through the binos, when I scanned back to the lake and my lads. I drew a line on the shore behind them when I see this big black brown thing sitting on a boulder about 20 feet above the water. I thought at first it was a bear, but when a bear sits its legs just stick out in front slightly splayed. This thing had knees and it was sitting on its haunches with its knees up near its chest, I was not sure of what I was seeing so I looked away and went back to it and could see that I was not mistaken it had knees and was covered in hair with no neck, it sat on its haunches and then slapped its hands on the rock about three times both hands at the same time. I started waving and shouting to the kids who were about 300 yards away and pointing and trying to keep an eye on it through the binos. I could not tell if the kids understood so I went back to looking and waving my hand and pointing, the thing just stood up and walked into the bush behind it, the thing had no neck and looked kind of straggly and matted, it did not have a bears profile it was like the back of its head sloped down to its back, it was huge on top like the chest area but it had scrawny (by comparison) legs, the hair on its legs was thinner and lighter. When the kids got into dock I asked them if they saw what I was pointing at, they didn't and couldn't figure out why I was waving, I told them I seen a bear. When I asked them about where the tree had gone, they told me someone had dragged it to the beach, which in their words was weird. I did not and have not told them or anyone of what I saw, it's sort of embarassing and I figure they would have thought I was just kidding them.
The noises that we heard the night before continued that evening, but from a point further up the lake, we did not hear them again for two nights after that, then we heard about an hour of crazy noises, similar to (and I hate to say it to a monkey) but with great bass or chest in it. The sounds had weight. Moose make odd noises also bears but neither had the weight of this sound it was a BIG sound. I have heard owls make the most amazingly complex series of whoops and yells at ear splitting volumes but they don't have the weight or bass these sounds had nor the organisation in the way the sounds that we heard were vocalized. I am sure of what I saw and I can't think of any creature that would match what I saw. It feels really weird even to be writing this, and I am sure on reflection what I have written above is the absolute truth as I remember it.
ALSO NOTICED: The only odd thing was the tree being moved from a position of having fallen over to a place 50 feet from where it was.
OTHER WITNESSES: Just me to the sighting 4 to the sounds we heard. All just sitting around shooting the breeze on a hot night. Folks had had a few beers but no one was intoxicated. I was drinking juice.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: about 10.30am sunny dry and still temp about 90 degrees. bright sunlight illuminating area under observation.
ENVIRONMENT: lake with dense bush all around it and a few older cottages for hunting on the east side. The terrain is rocky with abrupt granite outcrops some 300 feet high, swamp in the low areas and lakes everywhere. Pine and balsam trees along with maple and birch grow right to the waters edge in most places except where boulders and rocky outcrops break the shore line.
YEAR: 2002
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: July

Fisherman has morning sighting while boating up waterway near Sioux Lookout
YEAR: 1998
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: June
LOCATION DETAILS: Ten miles south of Sioux Lookout
NEAREST TOWN: Sioux Lookout, Ontario
NEAREST ROAD: unknown
OBSERVED: A friend and I were boating in a creek in the early morning. It was a very rainy and windy day. We came around a bend and I saw a figure approximately 30-40 yards from my
position to my right. At first I thought it was a bear, but the figure was too tall. Then, for a moment, I thought it was a moose. Then I realized it was neither because it was
bipedal, and thought to myself "that's a person". Then I had a moment of confusion wondering what a person would be doing in the woods in this sort of weather. Then I
quickly realized that what I was seeing was not a person either. It was bulky, black creature. I was not struck so much by its height, but its width. The shoulders were very broad
and it had a generally thick appearance topped by a small, knobby head. I watched it steadily walk towards the woods. About 10-15 seconds later it entered the woods. As it
entered, it walked up a hill and disapeared into the trees. Several things struck me. Rather than ducking under a branch, it swatted the branch over its head with its left arm. It
also never turned back in our direction to look at us and walked calmly away from us.
I was very struck by the incident and afterwards was surprised that it didn't occur to me to alert my friend to what I was seeing. I asked him later if he had seen anything in the
creek that day. He said no, because most of the time he had his head down, shielding his face from the wind and rain.
ALSO NOTICED: None
OTHER WITNESSES: One other person in the boat with me, however, he did not see the creature
OTHER STORIES: Only at bigfoot related websites, after the sighting

Moose hunter has morning encounter in hills of northern Ontario
YEAR: 1999
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: November
PROVINCE: Ontario
COUNTRY: Canada
NEAREST TOWN: Northern Ontario, Canada
OBSERVED: While moose hunting early one crisp morning,
i was walking in the spagnum moss all alone deep in the bush, it was in a hilly area and not many people frequent the area at all.
while stalking i had slipped in the moss on a wet stone.
when, i hit the ground from the impact i had been shaken a bit from the fall, getting my bearings i had looked up ,and to my amazement a "thing" was standing there looking at me.
i had thought at first, it was moose getting up from the long grass, 10 yards from where i had fallen .
but, as i looked closer it wasnt a moose, i had brought my gun up, and trying to swing on it,
it looked at me in "amazement".like it knew it was going to be shot!
what, i had seen was not a moose, i couldnt fire on it.
because of the way it moved, and the noises it made, they had startled me so much so, i had thought .... "it is a man"?!
but, it was black and running so fast it was amazing....
it was running and yelling ,,,,,
its yell was very strange.
i remember aiming at it, but listening to its eary scream, (like you would see in a cowboys and indian movie when an indian is about to attack and it charges.)
i hate to use this a a medafor , however, its the best way i can describe it.
so ,i watched it disapper out of site running , i was amazed at the movements and the manner in which it had eluded me.amazing!
i still remember its scream, after it had known i was turning my gun on it.
it was a very quick decision to make, i was on one knee and trying to look at "it" and,
hip aline a shot!
I had enough time to see it that,
when it started to run i had gotten up and targeted it as it ran!
but, as i had mentioned!
I was amazed at what i had seen and heard so, i could not shoot!
I was seeing an animal run but,
it was so man like i couldnt shoot!
I have since that day, frequented this area and found what i feel to be an unusual sheltering spot.
When the initial ordel was over, i was left with a weird feeling .
One of "when, i had fallen, and this "thing" came to see if i was alright, and to my surprise seeing him that close, instictively raising my gun on him"
he reacted to my movement of harm, and i could see it in his movements he was scared!
It was a very quick, and very close encounter.
Maybe, its not the big foot you seek!
But, it was black, large, ran up right, very fast, and i still believe it's movements to be extrememly manlike!
ALSO NOTICED: i had found some place i feel was unusual for a shelter.
i had found a big track there one day, showing some people this bush area,
i had covered it up.
OTHER WITNESSES: i was alone
OTHER STORIES: yes,, there have been some reports near this area but east of here about i.5 hours.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: during the early hours, 7am.
cool crisp day , very quiet
ENVIRONMENT: deep bush, hilly country.

Two witnesses (Truck drivers) spot a Bulky, Hairy (Brown Hair) being walking under the bridge
YEAR: 1997
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: September
DATE: 5
LOCATION DETAILS: St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. Under a bridge on hwy. 406 West Bound
OBSERVED: Bulky Hairy (Brown Hair) being walking under the bridge. We are Tractor Trailer Drivers and both saw a bigfoot Sept. 3, 1997 3:00PM Central Time. Hwy. 406 in Hamilton, Canada. We were crossing a bridge (westbound) that has solid cement rails all the way across. Cars have no way of seeing over the rails down the 100 feet or so to the bottom. This is where we seen the big hairy creature walking south on the west bank. Well when I pointed for Margie (passenger seat) to see as we were going by at around 50-60 mph she seen the creature going north in the same location. The water beside the creature looked about ankle deep pouring south. The creature was on the rocky part (dry). The creature was looking straight ahead (south) and to the side (east) towards the water. Walking along as we would walk to town or something. The creature was completely full of hair. I do remember seeing some flesh on the arms and elbows. The feet and ankles were massive. The ankles were as massive as the legs. The long hair looked groomed all over the body too (brownish hair). Also the arms appeared to be longer than usual. That was what caused my first real attention to it.
ALSO NOTICED: Never been to this location before or since.
OTHER WITNESSES: The witness was looking around mostly on the road ahead.
ENVIRONMENT: We Are Tractor Trailer Drivers. We both seen the creature walking on the west side of the water on a sandy part. The water looked like it was ankle deep or so. Cars can't see over the cement rail but semi's can. I am always looking around as I go down the road, and always look in places like that. The water runs south. We entered by Buffalo, N.Y by mistake. We did not realize the company wanted us to enter from the Detroit side. We have not had the opportunity to be there again because of this. We wanted to at least get a picture of the bridge.

SEASON: Summer
MONTH: July
LOCATION DETAILS: Myself and Girlfriend observed a large hairy creature on an isolated beach area near the Northern Ontario Community in northwestern Ontario Canada. No road access only fly in, and winter road in winter.
OBSERVED: Prior to the sighting the bush was uneasily quiet we had the feeling of being watched, and the hairs on the back of our necks tingled, we observed a large creature ( very large upright on two feet approximately 40 feet away, we had this strange feeling of fear that i havn,t felt in such very long time. we left the area immediatly, this feeling of being watched, or chased would better describe it, lasted until we travelled approximately 2 miles closer to the community. The following day we returned to the area in daylight the area we observed it was in a grassy area near the beach , no tracks were found, but the strange feeling returned a short while later. We have both refused to go near this area after dark it had a strange impact on us both.

Witnesses see a large, black, hairy creature standing upright only 30 feet from them.
YEAR: 1993
SEASON: Spring
MONTH: June
OBSERVED: From the files of TIMISKAWA SASQUATCH RESEARCH, Timothy Yearington ([email protected])
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No. 20V
Witness: Desmond (Joe) Warren (40 yrs old, 35 at time of sighting)
Date: June 1993 ( told to me July 1, 1998) location: McLeod Road, beside Madawaska River. Between Springtown and Burnstown, Bagot and Blithfield township of Renfrew County, Ontario.
Encounter: Witness and his girlfriend (at the time) were parked along McLeod Road, a gravel backroad that parallels the south shore of the Madawaska River. They had left a friends place early in the morning, after a party, and had chosen to "park" for a while. The car was backed into the entrance of an old logging trail, off of the main road. The couple remembers noticing a foul stench in the air "like a sewer backed up, or rotten meat". At about 5:30 or 6:00 am, witness left the car leaving his drivers side door open, and walked beyond the rear of the car to urinate. He heard a small noise to his left. and turned to see a large, black, hairy creature standing upright only 30 feet from him. The creature, which the witness felt right away was a sasquatch, just stood there motionless while he finished urinating on his way back to the car. He called to his girlfriend: " My god, look at this! Get out, get out (of the car), you gotta see this!" He remained at the car and watched the creature for " what seemed like a few minutes" as it simply "checked us out." The creature finally turned and took ten to fifteen strides back into the bush and got behind some cover. Witness said its arms swung and it was silent as it walked, upright, into the woods. "It didn't take long for it to get a fair distance. I could still see it between the trees and some leaves where it stopped." It turned around again to face them, watched them a bit more, and finally fled. Witnesses left the scene, shaken and stunned. They did not speak of it to anyone until near days end.
Witness Description of the Creature: "I'm 5'11", and it was a good two feet taller than me. It was at least 3' wide. It was completely covered with long blackish brown hair, from its head right down to its toes. The only places I noticed where there was no hair was around the eyes and the hands. I could see that in the chest area -- there was less hair in there, like on a gorilla. It had a chest like a body builder. The hair went right down its arms almost to the ends of its fingers. On its legs the hair went right down onto its feet. It had big human looking feet. There wasn't much hair on its feet and it had blackish gray toenails -- that's how close I was! When it walked away I could see the soles of its feet. They were blackish in colour and very wide -- about 6" wide and maybe 14" or 15" long. It was more of a flat foot. The arms were maybe the same length as a mans but very muscular. It had pretty straight sides, no curves, you know, like on a woman. It had a tall head and not too much of a neck. It had deep sunk eyes and you could see the skin in there, kinda a brownish black leathery look to it. Where we would have eyebrows it had a ridge that stuck out a fair piece. I don't remember anything specific about the mouth, but the nose - two large nostrils like a gorilla. There was hair on the face, but you could make out where the nose area would be."
Additional Witness Comments: "In no way was it a human, a human dressed in any disguise, and the muscles on that thing - impossible!'' "I've been back to the spot maybe a couple of times and it still gives me the creeps." "Boy it scares ye. You're darned right it scares ye!"
Environment: (topo: RENFREW 31F7, 73e24n) The spot of this encounter is literally on a lowland potion of the Madawaska River valley. The terrain is rather rugged in the immediate area and heavily forested by mature species of the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence type - a mature mix of white pine, spruce, and cedar; sugar maple; red oak; balsam fir; elm; ash; aspen and white birch. There are a few old log skidding roads present at site and likely elsewhere in the region too. The area would have been heavily logged over during the square timber era but it has again become a mature forest environment. Many large conifers and hardwoods exist at site. A wide creek (Kippers Creek) flows under McLeod road at site and becomes a sheltered bay of the Madawaska River. In itself, most of the southern shore of the Madawaska river, both upstream and downstream of the site location, is steep white pine forest and rugged with virtually no development, apart from the odd waterfront cottage. There are various old pastures, fields and homestead sites interspersed among the forest. There is more forest in the site area than field. To the south and east the forest is expansive and quite mature. On the topographic map, this expansive area contains primarily forest, wetlands, creeks and a few small remote lakes. There are only a few dirt roads and trails that enter into this area. To the north and to the west of site, beyond the Madawaska River, lies much heavy forested areas also, eventually becoming a vast wilderness called the Madawaska Highlands. white tail deer are plentiful in this entire area.
Comments: Witness seemed very interested in having a lie detector test done: "…. I know what I saw and I have no quarrels about putting me on a lie detector. Then I'd finally have proof for my friends and family about what I saw." The couple had been there about 2 hours before they noticed the foul smell. Perhaps the sasquatch had been making its way down through the forest on its way to the water, to either drink or fish, when it came upon the couple parked in the car. The witness felt that it was curious about him. (Witness said that his girlfriend did not leave the car.) Witness said that he "felt like peelin' on outa there but I knew that I was seeing something incredible. That's probably why I stayed to watch it." I find it rather odd, that when the creature walked deeper into the forest that no noise, like snapping twigs or branches, were heard. But, if the ground had been wet or damp this may account for its silence. Based on the above description, it appears the witness had an extremely decent view of a sasquatch. He has noted many typical sasquatch features and characteristics. Upon a tree comparison at the sight with the witness, it seems the creature w as closer to 7' tall. YEAR: 1993
SEASON: Spring

Morning encounter with a moose hunter in northern Ontario
YEAR: 1990
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: October
DATE: 27
NEAREST TOWN: Red Lake
NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 105 & Dixie Lake Rd
OBSERVED: I lived in small mining community called Red Lake Ontario for a few years. One day in the fall of 1990 I saw something that I can't quite explain when I was hunting moose with a friend of mine. I have tried to rationalize what I was looking at on that day and I just can't explain it. I must also say, I have only told 4 other people on the planet this story for obvious reasons. Only my closest friends, who know that of course I'm not crazy, and my father have heard this story and believe what I saw.
We had driven into a trail that I had not been on before from a road that we hunted regularly. The main road was called Dixie Lake Rd. I don't know if the trail has a proper name or not. I doubt it as there are hundreds of side roads and trails out there. My friend had told me that he had been on this trail a few times and had spotted a big bull one day earlier that summer, and he said he also saw several birds (partridge - sharp-tails and ruffled grouse) when ever he rode this trail.
As a kid we would go blueberry/raspberry/Saskatoon berry picking with my family up there. As I got older my friends and I hunted this road all of the time. I had been on this road many times throughout my life, but this was the first time I had ever ventured on this particular side trail.
We were about 2 km up the trail from the main road when my friend slowed his bike (4-wheeler,ATV, or quad) down. I pulled along side of him and he said this was the area that he saw the bull a couple of months prior. I told him I was going to stop and have a snack on this straight stretch of trail (I
had packed a lunch that was in my back-pack). He said he was going to ride on ahead to the end of the trail (which he said was only about another kilometer or so further) and scout the area and look for any signs of moose. He rode ahead and I pulled to the side of the trail and turned off my bike and took off my helmet. I opened my pack and grabbed a sandwich and a pop and started snacking.
My friend rode off ahead toward the end of the trail. He was still close enough that I could hear his bike revving in the distance. I could see about 200m up the trail and about 50-75m back down the trail from where we came in. I suddenly heard some
noise up ahead about 75-100m to the right of the trail. This was right where my friend had just ridden past not more that 2 minutes prior. The sound was brush moving and I could even make out what sounded to me like the thud of footsteps over the sound of my friend's bike in the distance.
At this time I stood up, put my sandwich down on the seat of my bike, and started retrieving my 30.06 from the case stored on the back of my quad's rack. All the time I was keeping an eye on the area I was hearing the noise from. I had my gun's case open and I was just about to pick up my rifle when for no real reason I just kind of froze and waited and watched. I fully expected to see a moose or a bear come out of the bush on the side of the road. I knew by the commotion that it was going to be a fair sized animal. I
remember thinking to myself "just wait to see what it is before you pick up your gun". Suddenly the noises stopped completely and about 5 seconds later I saw it.
Initially I thought what I was seeing was another hunter. That feeling soon went away. It was definitely human-looking, but not quite. I'll always remember my initial reaction. I instantly said to myself "this jack-ass is going to get himself blown away walking through the woods dressed in black like that". Within about 2 seconds I realized I could not possibly be looking at a man. Whatever this was took a couple of steps out from the bush on to my right
onto the main trail, stopped, and looked away from me towards the area my friend had just ridden to. All I remember seeing was a massive back, very muscular arms, a little point of a head from behind and wispy black hair swaying in the breeze off of the arms. I knew for sure at this point I was not looking at a bear on its hind legs, nor was it a moose, or a man.
It then turned in my direction and looked right at me. It almost looked surprised to see me. I remember feeling a "chill" for lack of a better word coming over me and really realizing that what I was seeing was absolutely extraordinary. Amazingly enough I still did not have my gun in my hands, the case was open and it was just sitting there on the back of my bike. I was in absolute awe at what I was looking at. The creature kind of sniffed then cocked its head back, gave a couple of more sniffs and then sort of a grunt. It then calmly turned in the direction it was originally going and stepped down into the ditch, then across the little blueberry meadow and
into the thick bush, all the time walking on 2 legs making no noise
whatsoever.
I remember trying to rationalize what I was seeing, saying to myself "This has got to be some crazy old Indian who is like homeless or something living in the bush". But nothing I could say to myself or was making sense. For starters it was at least 7 feet tall. It
was covered in fine wispy black or dark brown hair 2 to 3 inches long except for its face and palms. It was muscle on muscle. I had never seen anything so powerful looking. It looked like a football player in full equipment but it didn't have that v-shape to its torso, more square and "blocky" looking. It was at the very least 400lbs but I would not be surprised if it weighed as much as 600lbs.
It was at least as heavy as the biggest black bear I have seen. I
wasn't a small kid either (6ft 200lbs) and this thing would make me look like a dwarf.
Only after it left the area is when I got this kind of scared feeling like I don't believe whatever this thing was is completely gone. It wasn't really a rational feeling as the animal I saw made no threatening movements or anything, and I had a 30.06, but I was still frightened and felt just plain weird. I then picked up my gun and started walking very cautiously up the trail towards where I saw it go into the bush never taking my eyes off of that spot. I got up to the area and just stood in the middle of the trail staring at the point where I last saw it and waited for my friend to return.
Finally after about 4 or 5 minutes I heard his bike getting louder (closer). He crested the hill about 100m from me and drove towards me. He stopped about 5 feet away from me and immediately asked me what was wrong and what
did I see. He later told me he thought I had seen or shot at a moose. I asked him if he had seen anything weird in the last few minutes. He told me no not at all. I then said I thought I saw some crazy old homeless guy. I said it kind of nervously laughing. We both kind of chuckled about it but then he asked me if I was serious. I told him yes and proceeded to tell him exactly what I saw only after swearing him to secrecy. He was a good friend and I knew not only could I trust him, but he would probably believe me.
We both agreed what I saw could not have been a naked guy running through the forest at that time of year. It was late October and the temperature was around 0C-5C. Anyone without clothes on would probably be frozen to death in a matter of hours. What struck me as odd though is the way this creature's hair was. It was wispy and not really thick or warm looking like that of a bear or moose. You could see patches of skin through the hair. It certainly didn't look like it was adequate protection against the severely cold winters that we get up there. -40C is
not uncommon throughout Jan-Feb.
I just have a hard time believing that whatever I saw could survive those extreme temps. And also the fact that we were miles from any town or campground, and there was no other vehicles on
the road or on any of the trails.
We got to Dixie Lake Rd at about 6:15am parked the truck about 20kms in and got the bikes out of the back of the truck and started riding soon after. This incident happened at about 7:30-8:00am
and we know for a fact that we were the only ones up there that morning. Even when we left for the day right after this incident there were no other vehicles parked there or driving in.
After discussing several scenarios and trying to figure out what was going on, my friend then shut off his bike and got off of it and we decided look for signs or tracks. There was a light dusting of snow on the cold ground, not even a half centimeter and it was mostly blowing around and not sticking to the surface
of the ground. We could make out some marks on the ground where something had obviously passed but nothing definitive. About 1 minute into our search for tracks we were on the side of the trail where I had seen the creature last. We were about 10 feet off the trail in the blueberry meadow. Suddenly we heard one single very loud bang coming from the area behind the tree line
where I last saw the creature. It sounded like someone smoked a tree with a baseball bat. My friend and I quickly looked at each other as if to say to each other "Did you do that?" or "Did you just throw a rock into the bush when I wasn't looking?" After that look we both realized the noise was not made by either one of us we took off. I just ran the 100m back to my bike in about 15seconds with a rifle in my hand and full hunting gear on.
By the time I reached my bike my friend had already jumped back on his quad started it and raced down beside my bike just as I got there by foot. He kept telling me to hurry up and he kept looking over his shoulder. I put my gun back in the case, knocked the pop and sandwich off my seat, threw my helmet on without the strap and started my quad and turned around and followed my
friend out of there at speeds that weren't exactly safe. We got back to his truck and loaded the quads. When we got back to my place my friend and I told the story to my father. Since that day I have only discussed it with my father 3 or 4 times and the same goes for the friend who was with me. The story you have just read is
100% accurate and truthful and not embellished in any way. The events described are exactly how they happened. I sincerely don't care if whoever reads this believes my story or not. I saw what I saw. I do not want to draw any attention to myself. This is the
reason why I haven't reported this or told anyone but a couple of my closest friends and my dad in 15 years. I hope this in someway helps you.
ALSO NOTICED: It seemed to be extremely quiet when I was sitting having a snack on my quad until I heard the animal approaching. The only sound I could here was my friends quad way off in the distance, no bird noises etc. Just eerily calm.
OTHER WITNESSES: 1 who did not see the creature but heard noises afterwards.
OTHER STORIES: Never.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Morning, complete daylight, mostly sunny with only a few clouds in the sky. Crisp and cool, 0 to -5 degrees Celcius. Slight breeze no more than 15km/h if that.
ENVIRONMENT: Side trail off of main road (Dixie Lake Rd) mostly jack pines and spruce with a few poplar and birch. Many meadows in the area with wild berries. A lot of flat bedrock areas exposed in the area. Some small marshes and ponds and a river to the north of Dixie Lake Rd that runs as long as the road goes or longer as far as I know.

reason why I haven't reported this or told anyone but a couple of my closest friends and my dad in 15 years.
Nightime roadside encounter near Orangeville
YEAR: 1990
SEASON: Spring
MONTH: May
DATE: 5
LOCATION DETAILS: request that I can't give location at this time.
(note - location details were given during phone interview, but header location is only an approximation to protect the integrity of the actual sighting area)
OBSERVED: We were driving down a two lane highway that had no streetlights. I seen something on the road ahead of us. I told the driver to slow down, and I looked out the right side passenger door window into a field to scan for deer coming from the right field toward the road, thinking it was deer on the road. I seen open fields with sparse trees, fog in the fields, backed by dense pine forest. At that point I was able to see all this detail because of the bright moonlight. I didn't see any deer in the field or in the ditch on the right side of the road. All of a sudden the car slowed down and jolted me forward, drawing my attention back to what was on the road in front of us. I commented to the driver about her heavy foot and hitting a deer that we had seen a mile away. She say's "it's not a deer" which made me focus on the animal moving to the left side of the road. What I saw looked like a large male baboon moving like a rabbit on the two front legs then back legs, rump is down, move to the edge of the road sit down and look to it's left in our general direction. I say, slow right down and shine the headlights on it. She does the opposite we are as far to the right of the highway as we could be and we are about to roll on by this thing sitting there without confirming what it was. Not while I'm on point. I grab the wheel with my left hand and crank the wheel hard to the left now we are heading straight for it and the ditch. This animal looks at us, looks straight ahead like its going to jump the ditch then it looked or flinched to the right because I thought we were going to hit it for sure if it crossed the highway. And then darkness took over and we stopped with a hard jolt. When I grabbed the wheel the driver hit the brakes and cranked the wheel hard to the right we come to a complete stop perfectly straightened out one foot from the left shoulder and within 5 feet of the animal. The driver turns the car off and everything goes black. My first reaction was, what the bleep, the driver says “take your hands off the wheel right now“, and I do pleading my case. I say "hurry up and turn the high beams on before it takes off".All of a sudden she turns the interior light on and flashes all our eyes and now what ever that thing is, it can see us instead of the headlights shinning in it's eyes. Finally she turns the interior out and the low beams on. There it is, about 10 to 15 feet away and it looks like it's crawling unnaturally low to the asphalt, away from the hood of the car. It looked to the right like it was, exit stage right, ditch. But it turned to the left, head low ,moved to the very edge of the ash fault, gather it's back end above the feet and legs and looked like it was going to jump the ditch again. But it doesn't, it does the rabbit move two front then two back move and it stops sits and looks to the left at us. It's about one foot away from the edge of the ash fault in a sitting crouched position, head up, on gravel shoulder. I tell driver hit the high beams and lets roll by. She starts heading back to the other lane and I grab the wheel again and straiten it out and we rolled by within two feet of the animal, very slow. It would not look at us when we rolled by, just then the driver blocked my view out her side window. I beeped the horn and looked out the driver side back door window, it was not there. We drove back to the other lane and stopped , I can see a vehicles’ lights coming towards us down the highway but pretty far away. We discuss going back to investigate but decided not to and then discussed what we saw and then left.
These are details of what I saw: pointed head, no tail, no butt pad, and the hair is all short except on it's face, and its even shorter the closer to the eyes, mouth and nose. The hair looks an even length, 1 inch and so. It's hair looked mainly light brown, with grey undertones with flecks of black. Forward looking eyes like a predator. What I saw of the feet, they didn't look that long or big, and wide. Little ears, a crease between head shoulders, little or no neck, head sits forward, flat face, lean body, from side view about 200 pounds. Height in this crouch sitting position 3 to 3 and a half feet tall. The only thing massive or muscular looking was it's shoulders or upper back which was kind of humped. It's spine was interesting because when it looked like it was going to jump the ditch, it's spine looked straight, it held it's head high and erect. I could see the spine protruding. When it did not flee it relaxed because it's spine was not protruding, the head was not erect but sat forward and you could see a skin crease in the space between the head and shoulders. The crease looked like upside down smile where the neck should be. It's body language was not saying explode into motion anymore it was looking more relaxed, stand or squat it's ground and wait. I noticed that it's rear end never touched the ground at any point.

Teen watches as sitting bigfoot eats blueberries
YEAR: 1986
SEASON: Fall
MONTH: September
DATE: September, 1986
LOCATION DETAILS: South East of kirkland lake, Take Harvy Kirkland Rd. to the dead end. Here the trail starts and goes winding through the bush for many miles. The location of the sighting is about 3 miles in along the trail. the trail goes all the way to the other side of a town called King Kirkand which is far as I have ever gone, about 10 miles. However it is said that the trail is an old logging road and goes all the way across the quebec border and to the north end of Rouyn Noranda
NEAREST TOWN: Kirkland Lake
NEAREST ROAD: Harvy Kirkland Rd.
OBSERVED: There are two seperate incidents I would like to report, both of wich happened many years ago in the same location but on seperate ends of my hometown in northeastern ontario. The first happend when I was only five years old and I never spoke of it until now because it wasn't until I was older that I knew and understood what I had seen. In fact, my realization prompted me to do a repot on bigfoot when I was in grade six for a public speeking contest in wich I had received several awards, going all the way to the Canadian championships for wich I took third place, however I did not make mention of this sighting for reasions of disbelief and fear that it would affect the stability of my report.
It was in the summer of 1975 in the early morning hours probably around 8:30 or so. My mother and I were walking along Government Rd. between Chaput Hughes and Kirkland Lake. In the distance probably about 100 yards away for only a few seconds I seen what appeared to be a hair covered creature that was walking in an upright position along a swampy area on the west side of town. By the time I got my mother's attention the creature han vanished into the woods.
The second sighting was more intense because it was after I had done the public speeking report and I knew what I was seeing and I was self educated on the subject. I actually sat and watched for about 10 min., before I was detected and the creature calmly stood and walked away.
It was in late afternoon in September of 1986 while I was out rabbit hunting. I had been in the bush all day since about 7:00am. As I was inroute for home about three miles southeast of town walking along a trail that I hunted on a regular basis, I seen something out of the corner of my eye wich until I had turned my head, looked and focused my eyes in the slowly darkening brush, thought was a bear. The reason I thought it was a bear was because I was able to smell it. At the time I thought it was strange but it actually smelled worse than a bear, like ten times worse.
When I realized what I was seeing I instintly crouched out of view but still in a position to view this amazing creature. It sat on the ground in a yoga style cross legged position smack dab in the middle of a blueberry patch. It was just sitting there grazing the berries with it's hands and having an afternoon snack. It seemed to be content with the surroundings it was in. It had a massive body that would probably only be comperable to Andre the Giant, maby even bigger. It was completly covered with hair except the area around it's breasts wich appeared to resemble a dark leatherly texture. The face of the creature was not masked with hair, it resembled the face of a gorilla in texture and colour but had the fearures of an early evalutionary man.
As I sat there watching from about 12 yards away I had considered raising my gun and taking a shot. I opted against this because I have morals and was unshure if it was more man than it was animal, plus I didn't want to take a chance of missing or wounding it. I only had a single shot 22 bolt action and if it chose to attack in retaliation I would not have had time to reload. I watched for about 10 min. then I had to reveil myself for it was starting to get dark, and not because of bigfoot, but you do not want to be in the bush of northern ontario, even if you know where you are going, after dark. When the creature saw me it did not respond in the way I had expected. It just simply stood without the use of it's hands and calmly walked away.
OTHER WITNESSES: There were no witnesses however while on a recent hunting trip in the same area, my brother made it known to me that on a couple of occasions he and a friend sighted something wich they believe to be a bigfoot
OTHER STORIES: I know that there have been other sightings in the area but most people keep it to themselves because, who will belive them? Well I do.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was about 4:30 to 5:00pm. It was just starting to get dark and it was a warm sunny afternoon
ENVIRONMENT: Out in the middle of noware in a densely populated evergreen forest. There is a wide variety of other trees and plant life as well as swampland and a vast abundance of fresh water. In my opinion this terrane would be ideal for any wild animal or creature.

Fishing Guide has sighting while trolling Deer Lake
YEAR: 1986
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: July
LOCATION DETAILS: If you follow the Manitoba / Ontario border north until the border starts turning towards Hundson's Bay, right where it turns, there is a big lake to the east, which is Deer Lake. It's way the hell up there.
NEAREST TOWN: Deer Lake Indian Reserve - 300 air miles north of Thunder Bay Ontario
NEAREST ROAD: The location is a fly-in but the town of Red Lake has roads, which is about 140 air miles south
OBSERVED: In 1986, I had just graduated college and I needed a big break so I took a job as a fishing guide for a fly-in fishing lodge. At the time it was called Keyamawun Lodge, later to be renamed Peace Island Lodge. The lodge has since gone bankrupt and to my knowledge nobody has purchased it. It was located on Deer Lake just inside the Ontario border and abut 500 miles north of the US/Canada border.
We had a young couple on their honeymoon from Chicago. They had an aboriginal guide named Arthur Meekus. Arthur does not usually guide but we were so busy we hired him for the week. After 3 days the couple were very disappointed with the fishing and were planning on leaving early. They did not like Arthur. I started taking them out after diner to some hot Walleye and Pike spots.
Deer Lake is the headwaters for the Cobham River, which eventually runs into Hudson’s Bay. On the south west end of the lake, there is a long narrow water passage, which reaches a place the aboriginals called Quick Quick. This is a very narrow section of the lake where you first start to see current, which eventually turns into the Cobham River. Quick Quick is basically two smooth jets of bare Precambrian rock that almost touch each other, thus it gets so narrow you can see the current of the water. This area is clear of trees and brush because winter ice expands over the area and cleans it off every winter. As a result, you can see clearly anything on either side of the water and it’s clean for about 20 feet on each side before you go into tall pike trees.
I was tolling slowly towards Quick Quick. I came around the corner and saw a large black animal standing over 7 feet tall ran and jumped across Quick Quick and into the bush on the other side. It was black like a black bear. The first thing I thought of was it was a big 1000-pound black bear running on its hind legs to escape wolves of something. It did surprise me to say the least.
I told my fishing customers what I just saw and they heard the rustling and the branches breaking in the forest and then the animal reach a distance where we could not hear it anymore.
I continued towards Quick Quick and started thinking. It had long arms that swung more like a human than a bear. When wolves are chasing something, they make a hell of a racket and we did not see or hear any wolves. Also, a 1000-pound Black Bear is extremely rare down south where there is lots of food. There is not enough food that far north for a bear to get that big. Bears in that area rarely exceeded 250 pounds. A black bear would not be surprised or panic like that. A bear would just take a look at you and run into the bush on all fours. Besides, it’s an Alaskan Brown Bears that stands, not black bears. Black Bears do not run 30 mph on their hind legs and jump 7 feet to another rock. They would just plow through the water. This animal moved quickly.
For a long time we joked about my big foot encounter. Please don’t laugh but a few years later I experienced a kind of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. We went to see the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Predator. When the guy in the Predator costume ran and jumped while chasing Arnold, it brought back sheer terror in me. The creature in that film ran and jumps in almost the exact same motion os the big black animal I saw in 1986. He was around the same height as well.
I did see something extremely unusual and I finally started believing that I did see a Sasquatch. I went back to work at the lodge again in 1993. I had gone back to college for Computer Science and I needed to work during the summer. I did not see the creature again but I did talk to the aboriginal guides, (Cree Indians) who live on the lake and they all know of the creature and they are terrified of it. They called it a Windago, which under traditional native folklore is a spirit of the forest that can change shape into different animals. Whatever they believe, I am faced with believing that I did see a Sasquatch.
ALSO NOTICED: The animal made no noise besides breaking branches and I did not smell anything. It did not face me. I only saw it run and jump from a side angle.
OTHER WITNESSES: 2 of my customers heard the animal but we were fishing. I was driving the boat looking ahead of us and they were looking behind us and watching their fishing lines.
OTHER STORIES: The Cree Indian people on the lake are terrified of a creature they call the Windego.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was 7:30 pm. That far north, it does not get dak until 11:00 pm that time of year.
ENVIRONMENT: Pine forest with smooth rocky Canadian Sheild shoreline. I went back the next morning and did not see any foot prints that would suggest it was a Sasquatch. If there was mud then I could have seen for sure based on the prints because I know what bear prints look like (front and back)

Motorists have nighttime sighting near Grimsby
YEAR: 1978
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: 19
LOCATION DETAILS: I remember driving up Park Road.
NEAREST TOWN: Grimsby
NEAREST ROAD: Park Road
OBSERVED: In July of 1978, my then boyfriend and I were out for an evening drive up the escarpment. It was about 9:30 p.m. and the sun as I recall had gone down, because we were using the headlights. We were leisurely driving along, don't really recall being engaged in conversation at that moment, because we were both looking ahead in front of us. All of a sudden this "THING" just ran across the road infront of our car. My boyfriend had to slam on the brakes otherwise we would have hit it dead on. We swerved and missed it by about 6 inches and almost ended up in a ditch. As soon as the car came to a complete stop, we just looked at each other in total disbelief and said "What was that!". As stupid as this might sound, this thing was a bigfoot. There is no other way to describe it. As it ran across the road, it turned to its left and looked directly at us, and as the car swerved, it ran into the forest. I mean, we got a clear view of it. This thing was right in front of us running across the road.
Actually, I think we had our hi beams on, because where we were driving, was all farm country and wooded area, and didn't have any street lights. I've never talked to anyone about this, other than my then boyfriend, who I've lost touch with over the years, and my husband. I think if I tell someone, they'll think I've completely lost it. I can't believe it myself. I mean, how do you tell someone, you just saw a bigfoot, and then getting a response like "Go one, you're joking, right?" And although we were both young at the time, we were stone sober. Not one ounce of alcohol, or drugs of any type. So, that's my story. The only reason I'm telling it, is that I saw a special on the other night about bigfoot, and wondered if there had been any sightings in Canada, and checked the internet, and to my amazement, there were actual sightings in the same area where I lived.
ALSO NOTICED: Nothing
OTHER WITNESSES: Only one witness, and myself. The witness was driving the car, and I was the passanger. We were just looking out the front windsheild of the car, not in conversation at the time.
OTHER STORIES: Never
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was a beautiful calm evening, about 9:30 p.m. the sun had gone down. I know the approx. time, because once we were over the shock, and discussed it for awhile, and got the heck out of dodge, We wondered what time it was getting to be, and it was almost 10 p.m.
ENVIRONMENT: Wooded area on the left hand side of the road, farm land to the right. Can't recall any landmarks, was in shock afterwards, so my mind is a blank after it happened. Don't even know how we made it home, we were shaking so much.

Man recalls his nighttime roadside sighting near Markdale
YEAR: 1964
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: June
LOCATION DETAILS: West/southwest of Markdale about 2 miles
NEAREST TOWN: Markdale, Ontario
NEAREST ROAD: intersection of Rt 12 and W. Backline at Barrhead
OBSERVED: I was in my early teens riding in the backseat of our family car coming from my Dad's cousins farm. Both my parents were in the front seat. As we rounded a curve on the gravel road, the car headlights shown some lateral light to the sides. I was looking out the right rear window and saw standing up on the embankment at the treeline a tall fur covered creature. The roadside embankment went up about 10 feet. As our car passed, I turned around to look out the rear window and the thing was now walking down the embankment and stopped and stood at the edge of the road. I could see it clearly in the brakelights and some light coming from a lodge across the road as my Dad slowed to stop at a stop sign about 300 feet from the creature. I yelled at my parents to turn around but they just doubted my sighting and drove on. It was at the closest about 35 feet from the car. Note: I am 100% convinced that this was a Sasquatch for 2 reasons -
1. No bear walks down an embankment on its hind legs
2. Few men are 7 feet tall and if it was a man in a monkey suit why would he try to not be seen by us until we passed. A hoaxer would want to be seen.
ALSO NOTICED: My dad used to swim in the pond as a child and told me some years later that he and his buddies would hear strange screams or growls in the woods where I saw it come from.
OTHER WITNESSES: None saw it but my parents were in the car.
OTHER STORIES: No. I never heard any of my dads relatives talk about it.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: About 11 p.m. Clear night lights from car brakes and lights from a lodge across the road.
ENVIRONMENT: At that time there was no structures except the Lodge. Very woodsy. Now there are some houses and some fields with a few woods at that location. I was there 4 years ago to show my wife. Ponds are nearby.

Berry-pickers report sasquatch sighting in northern Ontario
Last Updated: Monday, July 28, 2008 | 8:16 PM CT Comments129Recommend163CBC News
Two Ontario women say they saw what might have been the legendary sasquatch in northwestern Ontario last week.
Helen Pahpasay and her mother were north of Grassy Narrows, Ont., about 230 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, to pick blueberries last Tuesday when they spotted a hulking figure from their truck at about 10 a.m. CT.
"It was black, about eight feet long and all black, and the way it walked was upright, human-like, but more — I don't know how to describe it — more of a husky walk, I guess," she told CBC News.
"It didn't look normal."
The creature seemed to spot them, then ran off into the woods, Pahpasay said. She and her mother debated chasing the creature to try to get a closer glimpse, but were so shaken they decided to abandon their berry-picking excursion and return home.
Others returned to the area later and found a large, six-toed footprint, Pahpasay said. "What do I think it was? Right now I'm not even sure what it was. But it really scared both of us," she said.
"There's been talk of Bigfoot, sasquatch. And I'm still not sure what it was, but I've never seen anything like it."
Pahpasay says she and her mother aren't the only people in the area with a sasquatch story. A couple of men from their community said they also saw the creature three years ago, she said, and a similar animal has been mentioned in old lore about the area.
"I've never believed it before, no. I'm not even quite sure what it still is today, even after what I've seen," she said.
Sasquatch, an aboriginal word meaning "hairy giant," refers to a large manlike creature some believe could be roaming woods from California up the West Coast and across Canada.
In April 2005, a ferry operator in Norway house, Man., captured on videotape three minutes of footage of what he said was a sasquatch. However, the video, which was shown on an American television network, was indistinct at best, failing to live up to its billing as "footage of the century."
In 2006, several people in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan reported seeing a sasquatch-like figure in the woods around Flin Flon, Man.
Skeptics say it's preposterous that a large mammal could have evaded detection in North America throughout history. Despite numerous alleged sightings, no one has ever produced concrete evidence such as skulls or bones, they argue, while footprints, film or photos can be manufactured.

Bigfoot on Hudson Bay
Nunatsiaq News (www.nunatsiaq.com)
IQALUIT — Signs of a sasquatch — a legendary ape-man sometimes called Bigfoot – have turned up on the west coast of Hudson Bay.
Earlier this month a government official discovered a set of metre-long, human-like footprints west of the Weenusk First Nation Reserve near Polar Bear Provincial Park, Ont.
"It’s definitely not a bear," Weenusk’s chief, Abraham Hunter, told the National Post.
"I looked at them. They were six feet apart, walking."
Hunter said elders have long told stories of sasquatches living in the area. Two elders claim to have sighted the creature about 20 years ago, he said.
An official analysis of the prints has not been conducted.
The reserve is west of Sanikiluaq and about 600 kilometres southeast of Arviat.

Bigfoot loose in Northern Ontario?
Toronto Star
Massive tracks point to sasquatch migration
PEAWANUCK, Ont. (CP) - Footprints indicating a creature with a two-metre stride have some northern Ontario residents speculating the elusive Bigfoot may have moved in with the region's black bears and howling wolves.
Footprints measuring 35-centimetres long and 12-cm wide have been spotted in this farflung aboriginal community on the south shore of Hudson's Bay, and the chief of the Weenusk First Nation has only one explanation: Bigfoot.
''It's definitely not a bear,'' Abraham Hunter said firmly.
''I looked at them. They were six feet (two metres) apart, walking.''
News of the prints, first spotted June 9 by a band member riding a four-wheeler through the bush, soon spread through the community of 250 and the hunt was on for the mythical ape-like beast.
But in a region where wild hairy beasts are expected, the fascination didn't last long.
''There was curiosity, people going out there for about three days,'' Hunter said.
''Then the novelty wore off.''
The tracks were alarming enough to draw the curiosity of officials with the Natural Resources ministry, who arrived June 14 to investigate and record the images of the footprints.
''We were surprised,'' said ministry official Brett Kelly, who admitted no one could explain what caused the tracks.
But even if it is the fabled Sasquatch, which legend says stands seven feet tall and has long hairy arms, a short neck and flat face, Kelly said it's unlikely it would endanger the community.
Kelly said the reserve is located on Polar Bear Provincial Park - the largest wilderness park in Ontario with a small human population.
Chances of humans actually encountering the sasquatch are very small.
''We'll wait for more information before we do anything,'' he said.
To date, there have been 16 reported sightings of a Bigfoot in Ontario.
At least one resides near the Weenusk First Nation, says Hunter, who recalls a resident spotting the beast decades ago.
''About 20 years ago there was a sighting in our community,'' Hunter said. ''But none have been seen since.''
Kelly encouraged people to take advantage of a free admission day at provincial parks planned for June 24 to investigate for themselves.
''This Sunday in Ontario entry into all provincial parks is free, so people can go find it themselves,'' he said.
In the meanwhile, Weenusk residents are simply going about their lives.
''We're getting back to fishing and hunting,'' Hunter said.
''Things here are normal.''

Was It a Sasquatch?
Niagara Falls Review
Geraldton, Ont. (CP) - Randy Corcoran says he will never return to a nearby bush where he recently saw a creature he believes was a sasquatch.
Corcoran, 18, said Friday that he was hiking alone in the woods two weeks ago when he saw an animal about 2.2-meters tall, covered with long, reddish-brown hair.
After walking nearly a kilometer along the trail, he heard a noise in the bush and took cover behind a rock, he said in an interview in this community 270 kilometers west of Thunder Bay.
"At first I thought it was a bear or a moose making all that noise, so I hid," he said. "And when I saw it I sure didn't want it to see me."
Corcoran said the human-like animal, which he said had a long face, crossed the trail about 140 meters from him.
"I stayed behind that rock an hour after it had gone, shaking all the time."
"It doesn't matter what people say, I don't care. I saw it. I don't know if it was a Sasquatch or what, but I saw it."

Bus Driver Startled by Dark Form
North Bay Nugget
COBALT -- Twenty-seven miners on their way to work the graveyard shift at Cobalt Lode could have lost their lives when the bus which they were riding went out of control and almost plunged down a nearby rock cut. Bus driver Aimee Latreille, who has been doing the route for the past four months, said he was startled by a dark form which walked across the road in front of him.
"At first I thought it was a big bear. But then it turned to face the headlights and I could see some light hair, almost down to the shoulders. It couldn't have been a bear."
Although no one was hurt, Mr. Latreille said he did not know if he would continue to drive the bus. "I have heard of this thing before but never believed it. Now I am sure."
One of the miners at the front of the bus said he just caught a brief glance of the creature. Larry Cormack said it "looked like a bear to me at first, but it didn't walk like one. It was kind of half stooped over. Maybe it was a wounded bear, I don't know."
Mr. Cormack added that he did not believe the PreCambrian Shield Man existed anyway. "My father used to talk about it, but I've seen it close up," he pointed out.

Further Sightings of the Smithville Creature
Beamsville Express
This article refers to the Smithville monster having turned up in Campden, about seven miles to the northwest, apparently a few days later after it was in Smithville:
No less than seven people were reported to have called the provincial police to say that they had seen the monster, which all of them described as big, black and furry.
Wayne Beach said that the thing he saw a yard behind his car "just looked like a great big gorilla." Two 16-inch prints were reported found near a garage where Manfred Berg saw something he couldn't identify. Hector McDonald said he got a back view of the creature at night in his barn.
Ontartio Provincial Police downplayed the incidents saying "It's not a monster, there's no such thing as a beast half human and half animal. Somebody is playing a hoax."

Was it "Yellow Top?"
North Bay Nugget
COBALT -- Old Yellow Top, the half man, half beast that is supposed to be roaming the wilds around the Cobalt Mining Camp was reportedly seen again, this time by a woman and her son, who live near Gillies Depot, while they were walking the tracks into Cobalt.
The woman, who did not want her name made public, said that she spotted a dark, hairy animal with a "light" head ambling off the tracks into the bush near Gillies Lake. She said she did not get a closer look at the thing but said it walked almost like a man.
The sighting is the second such report to be made since 1906 or 1907. A search party may be formed to try and find "Old Yellow Top."

Prospectors See "Yellow Top"
North Bay Nugget
COBALT -- Mr. J.A. MacAuley and Mr. Lorne Wilson claim they have seen the PreCambrian Shield Man while working on their mining claims North and East of the Wettlaufer Mine near Cobalt. This is the second time in seventeen years that a hairy apelike creature nicknamed "Yellow Top" because of a light-colored "mane" has been seen in the district.
The two prospectors said they were taking test samples from their ... property when they saw what looked like a bear picking at a blueberry patch. Mr. Wilson said he threw a stone at the creature.
"It kind of stood up and growled at us. Then it ran away. It sure was like no bear that I have ever seen. Its head was kind of yellow and the rest of it was black like a bear, all covered with hair."
The first report of the creature was made in September, 1906, by a group of men building the headframe at the Violet Mine, east of Cobalt. It has not been seen since that time.
